The Curious Case of the Watson Intelligence

Megan Brookover, Community Engagement Coordinator at Moxie Theatre, sent this invitation to Guild members regarding their upcoming play, THE (curious case of the) WATSON INTELLIGENCE.

MOXIE is a professional non-profit theatre in the Rolando/College area dedicated to producing work by female playwrights and creating more diverse and honest images of women.

We are now in our 11th season of producing new work and I wanted to let you know about our upcoming production of THE (curious case of the) WATSON INTELLIGENCE by Madeleine George.

Nominated for the Pulitzer Prize, playwright Madeleine George is constantly defying the stereotypes associated with female playwrights. Her new play explores our relationship with technology while playfully exploring a handful of historical, literary, mechanical and fictional figures, all named Watson.

Watson: trusty sidekick to Sherlock Holmes; loyal engineer who built Bell’s first telephone; unstoppable super-computer that became reigning Jeopardy! champ; amiable techno-dweeb who, in the present day, is just looking for love. These four constant companions become one in this brilliantly witty, time-jumping, loving tribute (and cautionary tale) dedicated to the people—and machines—upon which we all depend.

The play will be running November 8 through December 6, 2015 and opening night is November 14.

‘Watson’ contains mild adult content but is appropriate for ages 16+.

We have some incredible group rates and thought your organization might be interested:

– Groups of 10 get $15 tickets
– Groups of 15 or more get $10 tickets
